4X European Championships

Ajdovščina, Slovenia

26. – 27. June 2009

European championships is held once a year by different organizers, under the supervision of European Cycling Union (UEC). This is a competition for a European champion title.

In June (26. and 27.) 2009 there will be the first European championships ever held in Ajdovščina. This will be the 4X (four cross) mountain bike championships for categories men and women (elite). Two weeks before this event there will be a Downhill Championships held in Kranjska Gora. The three weeks invasion of mountain bikers in Slovenia is rounded with 4X and DHI World cup in Maribor (20. and 21. June).

International Cycling Union holds European championships as the fourth most important event right after the Olympic Games, World championships and World cup. In DHI and 4X the European championships is the third most important event, since these disciplines are not included in the Olympic Games. This is the reason for high amount of points that competitors can get here for the UCI score board.

The competitors will ride in categories men and women (younger competitors will also compete in these categories).

European Cycling Union is a union of 48 national Cycling federations (The countries are: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine).
